2024 Governors' Cup Odds

There are currently no odds for the Governors’ Cup posted at any of the top online Philippine sports betting sites. Because this tournament is the third conference of the PBA season – and because the 2022 PBA season has been pushed back significantly from its normal place on the calendar – the next tournament won’t tip off until very late in 2022 or sometime in early 2023.

That said, you can expect to find 2022-2023 Governors’ Cup odds on the boards starting a week or so out from the first game of the tournament, and you’ll be able to bet straights, spreads, totals, and props all the way through the last game of the finals.

How To Bet On The Governors’ Cup

You can bet on Governors’ Cup odds the same way as you’d bet on NBA odds, NFL odds, baseball odds, boxing odds, or anything else. The only difference, of course, is that you can only bet on PBA events online using a legitimate, trusted offshore sports betting site.

Remember, Philippine sports betting laws allow for domestic gambling through the MegaSportsWorld (MSW) sportsbook, but MSW is limited to bettors aged 21+. Additionally, these bettors must be established VIP customers to get access, and there aren't many Governors' Cop odds.

As a result, if you want to participate in daily betting on the games, you’ll need to join one of the sites we recommend. Of course, that’s easy enough, and the process is 100% legal and secure:

  1. Follow any link here to a legit Philippine sportsbook site and click or tap the “Join Now” or “Sign Up” button.
  2. Enter in all your required personal information, taking care to use only your real data. All the best Philippine betting sites employ state-of-the-art KYC (Know Your Customer) standards to secure your account and online identity.
  3. Choose a Philippine-friendly online sports betting deposit method. We recommend Bitcoin betting or gambling with another supported cryptocurrency option, as crypto gives bettors the best sportsbook bonuses and allows access to guaranteed same-day payouts.
  4. Select an optional online sports betting promo (recommended).
  5. Submit your completed enrollment and start betting on PBA basketball!

  • Governors’ Cup Semifinal Date: TBA
  • Governors’ Cup Finals Date: TBA

2024 Governors’ Cup Format

Most years, the PBA Governors Cup is contested using the same format as the other two PBA conferences (Philippine Cup and Commissioner’s Cup). That is, the “regular season” – aka the Governors’ Cup elimination round – is 11 games in length, with the top eight teams making it through to the quarterfinal playoff.

The top 4 seeds in the quarters are twice-to-beat, while the semifinals are best-of-five and the finals are best-of-seven.

However, the 2022 iteration is a bit different because there will be a 13th “guest team” – the Bay Area Dragons of the EASL – in the mix. To accommodate the Dragons, it is likely that the elimination round will be extended to 12 games. That said, the cutoff for advancement to the quarters will remain as the top eight teams.

2021 Governors’ Cup Results

There was no 2020 Governors’ Cup due to COVID scheduling issues, and there was initially some question as to whether or not the 2021 season would take place. However, despite continuing lockdowns and quarantines in the Philippines, the 2021 Gov. Cup was actually held, although the conference started much later than usual and ran longer than it typically does.

The prestigious PBA conference tipped off on December 8, 2021, and ran through December 26 before its first coronavirus-related suspension in play. The league resumed action on February 11, 2022, with games running more or less uninterrupted through April 22.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel won the 2021 championship, defeating the runner-up Meralco Bolts four games to two. The Governors’ Cup Final 2021 iteration was surprising in that Barangay Ginebra was a 6 seed and the Bolts were a 4 seed. Usually, the top seeds do much better in PBA conference playoffs, but this season featured two big underdogs duking it out for the title.

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel’s Scottie Thompson won the 2021 Governors’ Cup Best Player award and 2021 Finals MVP award, while teammate Justin Brownlee took home the 2021 Governors’ Cup Best Import award.

History Of The PBA Governors’ Cup

PBA players of the pastThe Governors’ Cup is the “youngest” of the three PBA basketball conferences, first tipping off in 1993. However, it’s initial run was short lived, as the conference was removed from the schedule just 10 years later in 2003.

In 2011, however, the PBA returned to a three-conference format, and the Governors’ Cup was reinstated. The conference has been the anchor of the PBA season ever since, with the exception of 2020 when the PBA Philippine Cup was the only conference to be held due to COVID scheduling issues.

The 2022 Governors’ Cup is the 21st edition of the popular tournament, and like the Commissioner’s Cup, a single import player is allowed. The current height restriction as of the 2022 PBA season is 6’6”, as opposed to the 6’10” height limit on imports imposed by the Commissioner’s Cup.

For bettors, this puts an interesting twist on the strategy of basketball gambling in general, and it makes the Governors’ Cup even more compelling for fans and punters alike.
