Legally Betting On NBA Playoff Odds In The Philippines

NBA-playoffsThe NBA postseason represents the zenith of basketball betting. Philippine residents tune in to and bet on NBA Playoff odds and Finals through licensed offshore sportsbooks.

Betting on the National Basketball Association is the most popular wagering pastime in the Philippines, and the NBA postseason attracts a high number of viewers as well as online sports gamblers.

This page focuses on the odds of NBA Playoffs that surround each of the league's 30 teams and has information on the postseason structure. The best online sports betting sites in PH are also covered that produce NBA Playoff odds, and all the information you need to find them is included in the following sections.

Can I Bet On The NBA Playoffs In The Philippines?

Yes! There are no Philippines gambling laws that forbid Filipinos from betting on the NBA playoffs with offshore sportsbooks or at domestic brick-and-mortar sports betting shops (though these have far fewer betting opportunities in general).

Online sportsbooks have the best odds of NBA Playoffs and offer multiple ways to bet on postseason games, and they're completely legal to use provided you employ a licensed and regulated operator. The only law that pertains to PH domestic sports betting is that operators cannot accept wagers on domestic events. Since the NBA is not played in the Philippines, residents are allowed to place bets with domestic sportsbooks, though offshore books have far more lines to choose from.

NBA Playoffs Structure

When it comes to the NBA postseason, the NBA's top eight teams from both the Western and Eastern Conferences advance to the Playoffs at the end of each regular season. Conferences are split up into seeds based on their regular-season records. The #1 seed plays the #8 seed, the #2 plays the #7, the #3 plays the #6 and the #4 plays the #5.

Each playoff series is a best-of-7 with the winner being whichever team is first to win four games. Home court advantage is factored in, meaning the team with the higher seed hosts Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 (if needed). Teams only play other teams in their conference until the championship round.

After the first round, the four remaining teams in each conference are pitted against each other based on the NBA postseason bracket. Then, the remaining two teams play in the Eastern Conference Finals and Western Conference Finals, respectively. The NBA Finals take place after both conferences are wrapped up. The Finals are also a best-of-7 series, and NBA odds often favor the home team because they host four of those contests.

NBA Playoffs Odds And Finals Betting FAQs

Which Team Has The Most Championships?

The Boston Celtics have won 17 NBA titles in their team's history, which is the most all-time. However, the LA Lakers are one title off the pace with 16. After that, there is a huge gap, with the Warriors and Bulls sharing six titles apiece, the Spurs with five total championships, and several more teams with three and two titles each.

Which NBA Team Has Never Won A Championship?

Five current NBA teams have made it to at least one NBA Finals but have never won the series. These include the Suns, Jazz, Nets, Magic, and Pacers. Six other teams have never even made it to the championship stage: the Hornets, Nuggets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, and Pelicans.

When Do The Playoffs Begin?

The NBA Playoffs begin in April and run until late May. The Finals begin in June. PH gamblers do not need to wait until the final 16 postseason teams qualify to bet on NBA Playoff odds. NBA futures are on the boards all year at the top online sports betting sites we suggest for Philippines punters.

Will I Get Higher Betting Limits On The NBA Finals?

Yes. Typically, you will get higher betting limits during the NBA Playoffs, with the biggest limits reserved for the Finals. This is because, as with most other sports, the championship matchup attracts the most action, and sportsbooks try to expand their risk in order to close the betting season out with a bang.

What Is The Best Site For NBA Finals Betting In The Philippines?

The best site for betting on the NBA finals is hard to pin down just because all our recommended Philippine sportsbooks offer a comparable number of odds of NBA teams making the playoffs and lines for each game. However, they never offer identical odds, so you can maximize your bankroll by signing up at several books and shopping lines to sniff out the best deals.

When Should I Bet On My Favorite Team To Win The NBA Championship?

Generally, you need to bet on the team you think will win the NBA title as early in the regular season as possible. For example, at the start of the 2019 season, many sportsbooks were offering futures odds on the Raptors of +2000 or more. By the time Toronto made the playoffs, those odds shrunk to a far less profitable +600 or so, and by the time the Finals rolled around, you were lucky to find +200 odds on the club.

Does The Favorite In The Current NBA Playoff Odds To Win The Finals Usually Win?

The preseason favorite often wins the NBA Finals, but not often enough to bank on it. For example, as of the 2022 NBA season, the Warriors started five of the last seven seasons as the favorites to win it all, and they won three times. But with two losses, had you bet the same amount of cash on the Dubs each time, you'd have wiped out a lot of your gains.
