The Okada super casino, located in the heart of Entertainment City, has filed a lawsuit against former chairman and CEO Kazuo Okada.
On May 31st, 79-year-old Kazuo Okada led a takeover of the Okada Manila operations. With an order from the Supreme Court, he could force his way back onto the board and assume control of the $2.4 billion integrated casino resort.
After further review, the Philippine Department of Justice and the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) concluded that the Supreme Court order did not justify Kazuo Okada’s actions. Since then, the casino has been returned to its parent company, Tiger Resort Leisure & Entertainment Corporation (TRLEI).
Currently, TRLEI is controlled by Okada’s adult children, Tomohiro, and Hiromi Okada. They were also detrimental to their father’s ousting in 2017 when he was initially removed from the board of directors. The Okada Manila board of directors removed Kazuo Okada due to allegations that he was stealing corporate funds and spending money on art.
What Does The New Lawsuit Entail?
The new lawsuit brought against Kazuo Okada alleges that he was involved in criminal activity when he took over the casino in May and that he may have deceived the Philippine Supreme Court in obtaining his order to be reinstated to the board of directors.
Kazuo Okada remains on the board of directors at the Okada Manila due to the Supreme Court order. Still, TRLEI says his future involvement will depend on the pending litigation and outcome against him.
