Philippine Government Shuts Down Largest POGO Hub in Cavite

The Philippine government has intensified its efforts to shut down the largest Philippine Offshore Gaming Operator (POGO) hub in Cavite. This significant action emphasizes the government’s resolve to ban illicit gambling.

The POGO hub in Cavite, one of the most extensive facilities of its kind in the Philippines, served as a focal point for offshore gambling operations. Housing thousands of workers and equipped with advanced gaming technologies, this hub played a central role in the POGO industry’s activities.

However, allegations of illegal operations, including tax evasion, human trafficking, and money laundering, drew the attention of authorities.

Raids and Arrests

Law enforcement agencies executed a series of raids on the Cavite facility in a highly coordinated operation. These actions led to the arrest of key individuals suspected of masterminding illegal gambling activities. Authorities have also detained several foreign nationals believed to be working in the hub without proper documentation.

The raids confiscated high-value assets, including computer systems, financial records, and gambling equipment. These materials will serve as crucial evidence in the ongoing investigations and forthcoming prosecutions.

As part of the crackdown, authorities rescued hundreds of workers, many of whom were victims of human trafficking. These individuals now receive assistance, including temporary shelter, legal support, and repatriation services.

Future of the POGO Industry

PAGCOR new logoPresident Marcos officially banned the POGO industry in July 2024, giving legal operators until December 31st to close shop and leave the country. Illegal operators have long been hiding under the disguise of legal services and have been the subject of many crimes.

For now, the POGO industry is done with no future outlook. The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) is shifting its focus from owning casinos to strictly regulating the gambling industry.

Online Casinos In The Philippines

Both domestic and offshore casinos can offer their services online to Philippine players. Legal online casinos accept players over the age of 18 and offer the same games found in Manila casinos.

Popular online casino games include blackjack, baccarat, roulette, video poker, slots gambling, and various live dealer games. Philippine players often gravitate towards offshore casinos for increased bonus rewards, multiple banking options, and fast payouts.

January 2025 will mark the beginning of the new era post-POGO and add legitimacy to the regulation of online casinos in the country.
