Manila’s Westside City Casino Project Gets Financial Boost

Westside City logoTravellers International Hotel Group, a subsidiary of billionaire Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global, is stepping in to lead the development of a $1.3 billion casino resort in Manila Bay. This move comes after prolonged setbacks by its partner, Suntrust Resort Holdings.

Suntrust, which Hong Kong-listed LET Group indirectly backs, announced plans to form a strategic collaboration with Travellers to accelerate progress on the Westside City project. The resort is located within a township being developed by Megaworld Corporation, Tan’s property development firm, in the Manila Bay entertainment zone.

As part of the new arrangement, Suntrust will retain an indirect 20% interest in Entertainment City Resorts, the entity that owns and leases the land for the casino complex. Travellers, which operates Newport World Resorts near Ninoy Aquino International Airport, will hold the controlling stake.

Westside City Casino Details

Originally slated to open in December 2025, the Westside City casino’s launch has been pushed to the third quarter of 2026 due to construction delays. SunTrust began work on the project in 2019.

Ownership of Suntrust is split between Fortune Noble (holding a 51% indirect stake), an investment firm under LET Group, formerly known as Suncity Group, and Megaworld, which owns 34%.

The Westside Integrated Resort will be the fourth major gaming destination in Manila’s Entertainment City, an 800-hectare waterfront area designed to rival gambling hubs like Macau and Singapore. It will join existing resorts such as Solaire (owned by Enrique Razon Jr.), City of Dreams Manila (run by Lawrence Ho), and Okada Manila (operated by Universal Entertainment of Japan).

The upcoming resort will feature a luxury hotel with 475 suites, a casino offering 281 gaming tables and over 1,000 slot machines, a retail mall, and multiple theaters, including one with a 3,000-seat capacity.

Located in Bay City, Parañaque, Entertainment City, also known as E-City, is an 8-square-kilometer waterfront development spearheaded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).

Envisioned in the early 2000s as a catalyst for tourism and foreign investment, the district features a collection of world-class integrated resorts, luxury hotels, casinos, shopping centers, and performance venues. It currently hosts three major casino resorts: Solaire Resort & Casino, City of Dreams Manila, and Okada Manila, with a fourth, Westside City Resorts World, currently under development.
