China Seeks Cooperation With Philippines To Combat Illegal Gambling

China outlineThe Chinese Embassy in Manila has told Philippine government officials that China is ready to fully cooperate with the Philippines to combat illegal online gambling activities.

According to the Criminal Code of the Republic of China, gambling is punishable by up to four years of imprisonment. However, this doesn’t seem to stop Chinese citizens from gambling online, as the Philippines has become a hub for online casinos offering their services to China and other surrounding countries.

Recently, China helped assist PH authorities in shutting down three illegal gambling zones in the Philippines and sending nearly 400 Chinese nationals back to China. Critics of the online gambling industry in the Philippines claim the industry is fueling human smuggling and other crimes throughout the country.

Is Online Gambling Legal In The Philippines?

Yes, PH players can wager with legal online casinos that are located outside of the country. Online casinos located inside the country cannot offer their services to the Philippines but can offer their services to other countries like China, Taiwan, and Japan.

In addition to casino gambling, sports betting, poker, horse racing, and more are available online to PH players from offshore sites. The Philippine government has issued a statement saying that residents should only play licensed online gambling sites to avoid any discrepancies that could occur.
